Nepal’s LGBTIQ+ communities celebrated the IDAHOTBI 2020 virtually
With The theme of #Breakingthesilence Blue Diamond Society & Federation of Sexual and Gender Minorities, Nepal has organized virtual panel discussion yesterday during IDAHOTBI 2020 day celebration.
Policymakers, political parties’ leader, Celebrities, National Human Rights Commission, Civil society activist Youth leaders, community people participated in the virtual platform.
President of Federation of sexual and gender minorities, Nepal Ms Manisha Dhakal and President of BDS, Miss Pinky Gurung highlighted the importance of IDAHOTBI and raised the concern on discriminatory relief material distribution and violence against the community. Miss Nepal World 2019 Miss Anushka Shrestha shared the role celebrities to raise the issue of marginalized community. She has already involved in food distribution for LGBTIQ community.
Hon’ Mohna Ansari from National human rights commission and Ms Binda Magar ; Gender and Inclusion advisor of UNDP want to support for monitoring , study and investigation of any human rights violation issue faced by the community as many community people raised the concern on inequalities on relief material distribution and violence during the lock down. Member of National Planning commission, Hon’ Mr Min Bahadur Shahi has requested to send the issue raised during the discussion so that he could bring these issue with the government for forthcoming budget and plan of government to address marginalized community issue during Covid -19 pandemic situation. Maximum 95 participants were participated in the virtual event and event last for 2 and half hours.
